At least 10 people are feared dead and up to 81 others have been injured following a massive double explosion at an army barracks in Viacha, Bolivia. The incident took place on Friday afternoon at a military complex located roughly 19 miles southwest of La Paz.

The explosion originated within a Defense Ministry storage facility used to house a massive stockpile of pyrotechnic materials and fireworks.

The disaster began when a batch of gunpowder caught fire, triggering a rapid chain reaction that resulted in a second, significantly more powerful detonation of the fireworks.

Military and civil investigators are currently examining whether the ignition was caused by human error, negligence, or a technical fault.

Among the injured are at least 52 civilians. Between 7 and 14 people remain missing beneath the collapsed structures.

Almost looks like a terrorist attack. Understandable why there are so many missing and presumed dead. 💀
