Firefighters Accidentally Drop Stretchered Body From Roof During Rescue
Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil A 62-year-old man was knocked off the roof of a house during a rescue operation carried out by the Amazonas Military Fire Department. According to the firefighters, the team was called to assist a victim who had suffered cardiorespiratory arrest, apparently caused by an electric shock while on the roof. "The team performed the procedure to lower the man using metallic accessories and ropes...however, unfortunately, a shift in the anchoring points caused the victim to descend rapidly to the ground." Furthermore, the fire department reported that at the time of the fall, the victim showed no vital signs and appeared to be already deceased, which was confirmed by the Institute of Legal Medicine at 7:10 PM. Following the accident, the Fire Department announced that an administrative procedure had been initiated to investigate the incident and determine any possible administrative sanctions in case of liability. |

...a shift in the anchoring points caused the victim to descend rapidly to the ground. Those idiots need to go back to physics class. Nothing shifted. the person holding the other end of the rope was standing in the wrong place they need to be at the base of the ladder not 50 ft away from it. Furthermore, the fire department reported that at the time of the fall, the victim showed no vital signs and appeared to be already deceased, It doesn't matter they were already dead anyway. |

Yes. And anytime a ladder is raised there really should be something anchoring it to the building, regardless of whether or not some lateral force will be applied to it. Complete dumbfuckery. |

In some parts of S America, they would have simply pitched the corpse from the roof into the bed of a pickup truck. One-person job. No muss, no fuss.
