Lol I was making peach cobbler a few weeks ago and as I opened the oven door, a plastic measuring spoon fell on the open door. Put in the cobbler and went to close the door, then saw in slow motion the spoon failing in to the bottom of the oven. Right under the rod thing that heats it up. I tried getting it out with a wooden spatula, ended up pushing the spoon further into the oven. Then it started melting and a fire erupted. I was like I got nervous AF and called my husband for rescue. He got most of the burning plastic out.
Oh Lordt

No fire extinguisher. What a mess because I'm pretty sure that was cat litter he threw on that.

I’m actually impressed that they have a home sprinkler system. And that it operated correctly. They are designed to wait until there is enough heat coming off the source before they active, to rule out false alarms and soaking your shit by accident. While the family basically contained it before hand, the steam from the water was that last crack of heat that sprinkler system could take before going off. That steam is hot AF too - I’m a paramedic/firefighter so I can tell you first hand how much worse a steam burn is.

I've notice most people do not have fire extinguishers in their kitchen. Sample may be skewed because I do live among rednecks.
