Female Racing Driver Thrown from Car As She Slams into Tree
Horrified motor-racing fans feared the worst when a catastrophic crash saw a car split in two as it hits a tree, throwing its driver out - only to be struck by another vehicle. Yet Valentina Tomasello amazingly survived with only relatively minor injuries. Footage of the incident, at the Sunix Race Track in the Dominican Republic, sees two out-of-control cars skidding across a grassy area having left the course. One nudges the other, which smashes side-on into the trackside tree, virtually disintegrating on impact and sending its driver Valentina flying out like a rag doll, slamming into the bonnet and roof of the second car before tumbling onto the ground. Local media reported the Venezuelan was rushed, unconscious, to hospital. But, amazingly, she escaped serious injury and was able to send a message from her hospital bed, saying: "I am fine, thank God. |
