DEC 5 2010 POMPANO BEACH A woman passenger in a motorcycle participating in Sunday's Christmas Toys in the Sun Run was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after two motorcycles collided on the route, authorities said.

In all, four people were hurt in the collision. None were wearing helmets, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lidieth Gil, 33, of Coral Springs, was thrown from a motorcycle after another motorcycle that was part of the parade hit it from behind, Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky said in an accident report.

Just before the crash, the motorcycle with Gil aboard had slowed for another in the long line of bikes.

The driver of the motorcycle, Edward Contreras Jr. 58, of Sunrise, was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries. Also expected to survive were the driver and passenger on the other motorcycle, Antonio J. Martins, 37, and Janice Martins, 20, both of Plantation.

The massive motorcycle run, the 23rd annual event, started at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino.

The line of motorcycles bearing riders and gifts for children traveled along I-95 and I-595 to Markham Park in Sunrise, where there is food and entertainment.

For the good side; their responce was remarcable. Riders fanned out and cut traffic within seconds. That sounds like a pro organization that knows what they are doing
