Female Cook Dies Being Victim of Gas Explosion in Kitchen
Brazilian cook M. do S, 43, who had been hospitalized for 10 days, died from burns caused by an explosion of a gas canister inside the restaurant where she worked. The cook had 77% of her body burned and in the Hospital she suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest. Video shows the woman turning on the lights in the restaurant and, moments later, the explosion occurs. Amidst the wreckage, she gets up and leaves the place to ask for help. According to the Fire Department, the gas had been leaking since dawn. Three other people were also injured. |

Seen several examples of things like this happening where gas is involved. I guess those countries don't add mercaptans to the gas to make it easily detected by olfactory senses.

what i cant understand is how someone, in this case a long time cook, not smell gas or LPG leaks in a small kitchen before deciding to open lights or oven. Even us backward countries gets an orientation from LPG vendors about things like that. things like LPG fume leaks stays at the floor, never turn on electric things when you smell fumes, air it out first, etc...
