For insurance. My understanding is if you hit someone with a car you are liable for costs for rest of the “victim’s” life. That’s why, apparently, Chinese will often just run the person over as that costs nothing, as the person is dead so no on going costs. Not sure if that’s true. Of course the advent of dash cams confounds these efforts.  |
