Bathurst, Aus. Oct. 10 2010 The great race started with the greatest crash seen on an opening lap when Fabian Coulthard rolled his car six times doing 290km/h at the bottom of The Chase.
As scary as it was, Coulthard played it cool, rolling out of the crumpled wreckage before saluting the crowd with a thumbs-up and a wave.
The V8 Supercar driver reckoned the lightning-fast, washing-machine ride was better than anything you could shell out for at DreamWorld.
"It was pretty full-on," Coulthard said. "That's the biggest shunt I've ever had. I'm just very lucky to walk away from it.
"You're just waiting for it to end. I knew I was on my head.
"I was still flat out at 290km/h plus. I was conscious during the whole thing and it's better than any ride I've ever had at DreamWorld."
With his VE Commodore a write-off, Coulthard's Bundaberg Red Racing Team must spin around and put together a new piece of machinery for the next round on the Gold Coast in a fortnight.
