The 48-year-old trailer truck driver said he initially wasn’t aware how serious the accident was until he came out of his vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived within minutes and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) rescuers freed the 29-year-old driver from the lorry’s cabin after 30 minutes, using hydraulic tools to cut through the metal. His leg was stuck and couldn’t be freed.

Both the lorry driver and passenger, a man in his 60s, were ferried to Changi General Hospital as they said they suffered from rib pain but were conscious and in stable condition.
