I watched it again and it looks like the fork starts to tip forward a bit from the turn momentum and weight. I think he was trying to get the load on the floor to balance and bounce back but it slid

That was quick thinking, using the 2x4 as a pry bar to free the guy. I thought he was going to use it beat the guy over the head and put him out of his misery.
