Electrocution by Fishing Pole
China, Henan Province. some say he was trying to remove a wasp nest while others say he was suicidal. Anyway, he survived being badly burned. The massive electrical energy passing through the object essentially vaporized and shredded the rod into a frayed, cotton-like mass. People criticized the fact that it took nearly two minutes for anyone to intervene while the man was actively burning on the ground. An adjacent shop owner initially refused to hand over or use their store's fire extinguisher, out of fear, confusion or legal hesitation. Ultimately, employees from a nearby automobile accessories shop stepped in with multiple extinguishers to completely douse the flames eating through his clothes. |

Re: Electrocution by Fishing Pole
I think the fact that the pole was resting on the ground (while he was "Stroking his pole") was the reason he survived. It must have had some metallic fibers in it, that it conducted electricity. I know most maintenance ladders are fiberglas, so they don't conduct and don't arc. |
