Elderly Couple in Car Runs Down a Tow Truck Driver

An elderly couple have been arrested to assist in the investigation into an accident and attempted murder that occurred in Bandar Teknologi Kajang on February 28.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said his department received a police report from a 63-year-old woman yesterday who claimed that her 42-year-old son was hit by a car and injured and could not move at the scene of the incident at approximately 12 noon.

The complainant rushed to the location and took his son to the hospital for further treatment.

Naazron said that the investigation found that there was a dashcam video of a public vehicle that recorded the incident.

“The video shows a black car deliberately hitting the victim who had gotten off the tow truck before being dragged into the middle of the road divider, before the suspect vehicle fled,” he said in a statement here.

Following the report, the police arrested a local couple, aged 73 and 65, at 11.15 last night to assist in the investigation into the incident and to find out the exact cause of the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code which, if convicted, carries a maximum prison sentence of up to twenty years.

Investigations are also being conducted under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving causing harm to another person, which carries a prison sentence of up to 6 months or a fine not exceeding RM2,000 if convicted.
