Dump Truck with Raised Bed Hits Overhead Highway Sign on I-64
On the night of April 8, 2026, a truck driver working for a subcontractor, Christ Brothers Asphalt, near Caseyville, Illinois, made a massive mistake when he drove onto Interstate 64 with his dump bed fully raised. A dashcam captured the surreal moment the raised bed slammed into a massive overhead highway sign. The impact was so violent that the entire steel gantry collapsed across all westbound lanes. Illinois State Police confirmed there were no injuries, but the highway remained a parking lot for over 12 hours while crews cleared the wreckage. |
