Drunk Motorist Fatally Hits a Grandmother & Her Granddaughter Crossing the Road
While drunk, a man was driving a Ford Focus without vision correction devices (glasses, lenses), which were mandatory according to the note on his driver's license. While driving on Gagarin Street at a speed of at least 80 km/h, he failed to give way to a grandmother and her granddaughter who were crossing the pedestrian crossing, and hit them. Both pedestrians died on the spot. The defendant was sentenced to 12 years in a general-regime correctional colony, with a driving ban for 2 years and 10 months, which he will serve after his release from custody. The convicted person was also ordered to pay compensation for the moral harm caused to the relatives of the victims. |
