Three people were injured when a man crashed his car into a Thai restaurant in Melbourne's west.

Police say the 57-year-old Glenroy driver veered across a median strip of Aviation Road at Laverton before crashing through the front window of the Fresh Chilli restaurant about 10:30pm.

His car hit 3 people who were eating at a table and forced them to the back of the building.

A man and 2 women were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police allege the man was 3 times over the legal alcohol limit and that he returned a reading of 0.179 per cent when he was tested after the crash.

The driver is assisting police with their enquiries.

This happened about 5 mins from where I live the Driver had dinner there ...maybe he wasn't happy with the meal. Very lucky no one was killed
