Drones Fall from the Sky in China
Sparks from a drone fireworks show at a scenic spot in Liuyang, Hunan, accidentally ignited the forest. The management said the fire was quickly extinguished and did not affect subsequent performances. On the evening of October 2nd, hundreds of drones took to the skies above a scenic spot on the Liuyang River in Hunan Province, setting off a dazzling display of fireworks that drew gasps of delight from spectators along the riverbank. That evening, a cool breeze blew along the banks of the Liuyang River, and the area surrounding the scenic area was already packed with eager spectators. As the night officially took center stage, accompanied by a gentle hum, hundreds of drones, like well-trained soldiers, took off in unison. A video posted on social media shows drones slowly "blooming" in the night sky, a dazzling display of light. Then, the formation shifts, and suddenly, fireworks ignite, drifting down like celestial blossoms while onlookers tried to protect themselves or fled the site. |

It doesn't look like the drones themselves are falling, only the fireworks that they were carrying.

Whatever was falling had weight to it. If it was just fireworks it wouldn’t behave that way. I’d say quite a few drones dropped from not being able to handle the activity itself. Getting fried or losing a propeller to heat or small explosion.  |

A serendipitous but valid at-scale extant demo/dry run in how to torch, say, a whole city/forest/military base at once. Say, if one should have to. If that WASN'T in anyone's weapons scope and plans anywhere before, I daresay it is now. :)
