He actually counter-steered correctly if you look at his front wheels coming out of the slide. Shit road surface, tires or both.

The driver entered the water steering right into the curve and maintaining or increasing throttle. It hydroplaned and the deep water and rotated the car slightly right, the direction of his initial steering. Deep water does this. The driver oversteered hard to the left to correct it. The car was hydroplaning so it did not immediately respond to the steering correction. When the Mini left the water, the pavement sent it in the direction of the oversteer, directly off the left side of the road. Main driving errors there: 1. Should have let off the throttle entering the water to reduce hydroplaning. 2. With experience, should have known water would exaggerate his right steering stance. 3. Should have done a slight steering correction while hydroplaning to point the tires down road, upon exit from water. |
