Buffalo, NY - The produce section at a western New York supermarket turned into the wild kingdom over the weekend.
According to our sister station WGRZ 2 On Your Side, two deer ran through the Wegmans supermarket in Niagara Falls Sunday morning, leaving customers and management in disbelief.
Diane Honeck, property manager for the Wegmans plaza said, "I received a call from the Town of Niagara Falls Police stating their was a break-in in one of my vacant units. When I arrived on the scene, I found it was actually a doe and fawn that had actually been chased by a buck and decided to go into our vacant building."
Just after 9 a.m. the deer entered the automatic doors of the Wegmans store and chased each other through the produce section and around the store.
"The deer made a considerable mess inside the Wegmans store," added Honeck.
The store is closed until further notice to clean-up. A Wegmans employee told WIVB-TV that any food the deer may have come in contact with was thrown out and the damaged areas cleaned up.
