SINGAPORE - A 43-year-old driver has been arrested in relation to a fatal accident that took place on the Pan-Island Expressway on Monday (Sept 21).

The woman was arrested on Tuesday (Sept 22) for causing death by negligent act, the police said on Thursday in response to queries from The Straits Times.

The accident was earlier reported to have involved a motorcycle and a truck. It resulted in the death of the motorcyclist, a 25-year-old Singaporean man.

The truck driver, a 50-year-old Malaysian, was arrested at the scene.

But upon further investigation, the police arrested the woman the next day.

Meanwhile, video footage that has surfaced online showed that a third vehicle may be involved in the accident.

A 36-second video clip, shot from the rear view camera of a vehicle, was put up by the Singapore Reckless Drivers Community on its Facebook page on Thursday at 1.50am.

The clip showed a sports utility vehicle (SUV),which was on the right-most lane of the expressway, attempting to filter to the left. The SUV bumped into the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control and crash into the truck.

The video has since garnered over 360,000 views and was shared more than 11,000 times.

It is understood that the woman arrested is the SUV driver.

The truck driver is still assisting the police with investigations.

Both drivers are understood to be out on bail.

The accident, which occurred at around 4.30pm near the Central Expressway exit towards Changi, had caused a massive four-hour jam that at one point stretched all the way to Bukit Batok.

Re: Death by Ducati® in Singapore

Check your mirrors and head-check before changing lanes. Not hard to do. Unless you are a Malaysian woman, apparently...
