The Spaniard Carlos Sainz may have scored 27 Dakar stage victories since 2006, but during the fourth stage of this year's rally through Argentina, his 28th got postponed by a at least a year.

The team of Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz were trying to make up time they had lost due to some navigational errors.

Unfortunately, not long before the finish line between Tupiza and Oruro, Sainz was pushing a bit too hard and their Peugeot decided to tip over instead of make through that corner.

The car barely missed some unwise spectators before it began its barrel roll down the hill.

Sainz got out of the wreck with a little pain in his back, but the car was toast with a broken gearbox and no cooling.

Lucky for the spectators, unlucky for the driver. It's amazing how well-built those racing cars are.
