Wherever that is, the barrier and transition do not meet DOT design code for US public access roads (including bike lanes). It needs the same amount of signage, lane markings, guiderail transition hardware and shoulders as we typically see for for motor vehicle lanes.

It's the cyclist version of runner's high. When putting out that much continuous effort, cyclists get sucked into the zone. Lane marker warnings like "caution ahead" are great for snapping them out.

I get it. I’ve been in the “zone” before during several different kinds of activities where everything else around you seemingly vanishes…including hazards…  |
