Crash In Slovenia

JESENICE – At around 5:30 in the morning, a serious traffic accident occurred in Jesenice in which 23-year-old Dženan, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a member of the Živinice Cultural and Artistic Society, lost his life. Eight other people were injured in the accident, one of whom is in critical condition and, according to our information, is also a member of KUD Živinice.

According to the police report, 25-year-old Slovenian citizen Eldar Ćehić was driving from the direction of the center of Jesenice towards Hrušica. Due to inappropriate speed around 200 km/h he lost control of his vehicle, left the road, hit a concrete wall, then bounced and overturned onto a car that was waiting at a red light. After the collision, the vehicle flipped and ended up on the roof of the other car.

The driver, who sustained only minor injuries, was under the influence of alcohol – his breath alcohol level was measured way over the limit and was apparently positive for drugs. There were several passengers in his vehicle. A minor and a 26-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered serious injuries and were immediately transported to the Jesenice Regional Hospital. Another 19-year-old passenger, due to the severity of his injuries, was airlifted to the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana.

The 23-year-old Dženan, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, died at the scene due to severe injuries. He was ejected from the vehicle at high speed and struck a concrete wall at a nearby construction site. Two other passengers, a minor and a 26-year-old man, also citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sustained serious injuries and were transported from the scene to the Jesenice General Hospital. Another 19-year-old passenger, also a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina who sustained severe injuries, was airlifted to the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana.
