Re: Cop Struck By Wrong Way Driver
Sgt. Goddard of the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Memphis District was injured in a collision with an elderly wrong-way driver on Interstate 40 in Dickson County. The incident occurred near mile marker 176, close to the I-840 interchange, while Sgt. Goddard was returning to Memphis from a training session in Nashville. Both Sgt. Goddard and the elderly driver, 60, sustained injuries and were transported to nearby medical facilities. Both individuals are expected to make a full recovery. The THP is investigating the cause of the incident. Officials noted that while wrong-way drivers are rare in that specific section, the nearby interchange at Exit 172 can be confusing, particularly for older or impaired drivers. |
