Kansas City police released the dramatic dashcam video of an overnight crash involving an officer who was making a routine traffic stop of a suspected drunken driver.
Police said the two officers pulled over the suspected drunken driver at about 3:45 a.m. near 83rd Street and Troost Avenue.
The video shows that while the officers were dealing with the first driver, another suspected drunken driver swerved into the first driver's car and forced the vehicle forward and into the officer's leg.
The 24-year-old rookie officer received minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
Police said the suspected drunken driver who collided with the first vehicle was a woman who came all the way over into the grass on the right side of the road, clipped the police cruiser and then smashed into the vehicle of the first suspected drunken driver.
The woman's vehicle sustained major damage, but police said the woman was not injured.
Police arrested both drivers for alleged drunken driving.
