On Saturday, October 23, 2021, a severe collision occurred at the Cicloturista Condaca Salmor Bike event in El Hierro, Canary Islands, involving a cyclist and a spectator near the race's finish line.

The incident unfolded when the spectator tried to cross the road just as the cyclist was approaching her. This attempt came shortly after another individual had crossed at the same location. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 3 pm following reports of a cyclist colliding with a spectator.

A video captured the moment, showing spectators along the race's final stretch and their shocked reactions to the intense collision. The condition of the spectator remains uncertain. Although she received immediate medical attention at the site, unverified reports from Sunday suggested she was airlifted to Tenerife due to her injuries.

The cyclist, meanwhile, was transported to Hospital Nuestra Señora de Los Reyes with a moderate head injury. A spokesperson for the regional government's emergency services coordination center confirmed the incident, stating that the cyclist appeared to have non-serious head injuries and that the woman struck was treated on-site by event medical staff. A police investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Despite barriers and barricades along the course, including the finishing straight, some spectators reportedly moved closer to the action, exploiting a gap near an advertising arch. The event, which saw 270 cyclists participate, ended tragically at the finish line.
