Correct. When jay walking you have to make direct eye contact with the driver. Then you can step in front of the car once the yield. If they do not make eye contact with you just stay out of the direction of travel where the vehicle is going.

The 65-year-old woman, who was hit by a car on Estrada do Campinho, in Campo Grande, West Zone, is still hospitalized at the Hospital. The driver of the vehicle fled without helping the elderly woman.
