An aggressive squeeze would have been much better than the brake grab that he used. Panic, too much speed for conditions, and improper use of the front brake.

Yes indeed, but inexperienced riders will panic grab the brake instead of trying to avoid the collision or hard progressive braking. I suspect a more experienced rider , or one paying more attention and anticipating ahead, might have avoided that completely without having to brake?
