Car and Truck Collision Traps Three People
A car and a truck collided in east China's Zhejiang Province on Monday afternoon, trapping three people on a nearly 50-meter high viaduct of the highway from Zhuji to Yongjia. The rear-end accident occurred at around 16:39 on a highway hub in Dongyang City. The surveillance video shows that the car overtook the truck when it suddenly slowed down and changed the lane. The truck then instantly ran into the car, making half of the car body hang over the viaduct, with the three people in car, including the male driver and two female passengers, stranded. Local traffic police officers, firefighters and medical workers rushed to the site for rescue. The rescuers fixed the car first before they began to deliver the trapped with hydraulic tools. At 18:24, the two female passengers were delivered to safety. As the driver had his leg stuck in the car, it took more time to pull him out, but the rescuers sent him physiological saline and chocolates to keep him alive. He was finally pulled out at 21:49 and sent to hospital right away. "The rescue operation lasted for about four hours before the last trapped was pulled out. Except for some injuries on his foot, he was in fairly good shape," said Ying Zhideng, a firefighter in Jinhua City. The family of three are now in hospital with no life danger. |
