Car Slams into People Riding a Bike Turning Right
Malaysia. Three people were seriously injured while an 18-month-old baby was only slightly injured after a car they were travelling in crashed into an orange traffic light before colliding with a motorcycle. The Proton car driven by a 21-year-old woman and her nephew and a 18-month-old baby as passengers skidded and then crashed into a workshop fence and a parked Subaru. investigations found that the motorcyclist and his pillion passenger, aged 20 and 18 respectively, were moving towards the intersection even though the traffic light had not yet turned green. At the same time, the driver of the car involved is believed to have been driving at high speed even though the light had turned orange As a result of the strong impact, the rider and pillion rider of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike, causing both of them, including the car driver, to suffer serious injuries, while the baby involved only suffered minor injuries. Further investigations are still underway and the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving. If convicted, a fine of RM5,000 to RM10,000 or imprisonment of not more than 12 months can be imposed. |
