A mother and her two children have had a lucky escape when they were struck by a car after it veered off a road in Sydney's eastern suburbs yesterday.
The mum was standing at the front counter of a newsagency on Bondi Rd with her two children when the sedan mounted the curb and crashed through the front doors about 3.45pm.
The car allegedly struck the woman and a pram carrying a 17-month-old boy, but both were somehow left unharmed.
Paramedics checked the mother and her children for injuries and all were given a clean bill of heath.
The same could no be said of Bondi Centre Newsagency which suffered extensive damage to its shopfront and a display unit.
"It was very lucky, they were moments away from being killed,'' the newsagency's owner said.
"My husband was serving the lady at the time when the car came in.'
"I have no idea how it managed to end up where it did.'
"We are closed now, but with no doors to close.''
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
