OAKLAND PARK, Fla. April 4 2011 Police are searching for the driver who crashed a car into a store, striking an employee, before fleeing the scene on foot, according to police.
Cameras rolled on the close call at the Kwik Stop at 310 NE 38 St., as an employee barely escaped the crash unscathed.
The store's owners were boarding up by the end of the day.
By the time Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to reports of the crash, the driver had fled the scene.
There were no major injuries; but the store surveillance camera captured the incident on camera, showing just how close an employee came to injury.
Guillermo Ramirez was the employee walking in front of the store when the car almost hit him.
Speaking through a translator, Ramirez said, "I was walking right here, and this guy just came up on the curb and 'boom.'"
Ramirez said the teenage driver and passenger took off after he started yelling at them, leaving the car stuck in the store's front door.
Ramirez was only grazed by the car, but he needed some bandages.
"I have pain right here," he said holding his right leg, "and then right here," he added lifting his right elbow.
"I feel beaten up and injured, but I don't know what happened to the driver. He just ran away."
Police are still looking for the driver responsible.
