Car Fatally Hits Businessman Walking on the Road at Night
India The body of 55-year-old businessman A.A. was found in the early morning hours of Sunday near his warehouse in the Bhogipura area. He had sustained severe head injuries. Just four days before his death, he held a press conference where he accused the Goods and Services Tax officials of corruption and extortion. He claimed that specific officials had demanded large bribes to release his seized vehicles. According to his family, he was intercepted by GST officials around 2:00 AM on the night he died after they stopped one of his trucks. His family alleges he was pressured and threatened via phone to withdraw his legal complaints against the department. While initial police reports suggested a hit-and-run based on CCTV footage of a road accident, his family and local transport unions maintain it was a premeditated murder. A special investigation has been launched to determine if the accident was staged or not. |
