Friday evening a serious accident occurred on the Steel Max slingshot ride during the Feria de Abril in Seville, Spain.

A cable snapped while the ride was in operation, causing the passenger capsule to crash into a support pole and leaving 4 people injured.

Two youngsters were inside the capsule when the cable snapped. They were left dangling approx. 300 feet in the air before being rescued and taken to a medical center for evaluation.

Two individuals on the ground were injured, reportedly struck by falling debris or the whipping cable itself.

The accident happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. local time in the fairground's amusement area, known as Calle del Infierno, Street of Hell.

A steel tension cable snapped mid-air after the capsule had already completed several bounces.

Spain's National Police and local authorities have launched an investigation into the ride's maintenance records and safety documentation.

Preliminary reports suggest possible mechanical fatigue in the cable release system. Some witnesses claimed to have heard a fraying sound shortly before the cable failed.
