Susan Brown, 54, of Whitman allegedly fell asleep at the wheel of her Chevy Malibu on Oct. 12, crossed the median line, struck an MBTA bus head-on in Holbrook, and was cited for failure to stay within marked lanes.
Brown was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with non-life threatening injuries and remained there through the evening of Oct. 14.
A 12-year-old female passenger on the bus was taken to Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center with minor injuries and later released.
The accident was captured by cameras on the bus, according to the Boston Globe, which reported that approximately 350 of the MBTA’s fleet of 1,100 buses are equipped with eight cameras each, providing views inside of the bus, in front of it, and on either side of it.
MBTA Transit Police Sgt. Ken Sprague’s belief that the bus driver in this crash was not at fault and Brown probably fell asleep and appeared to have slumped down prior to impact.
Brown could not be reached for comment.
