Re: Bus Nearly Killed Him
A traffic accident involving a public transport bus and a pedestrian was recorded this Friday morning (7) at Praça Dom Parreira Lara, in the Historic Center of Ponte Nova. The incident occurred around 6:50 am. According to the Military Police, the bus, driven by a 28-year-old man, experienced a mechanical failure in the steering system, possibly a broken pin on the left front axle shaft. This defect reportedly caused the front wheels to lock up, dragging for approximately 12 meters and causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The bus ended up hitting a 64-year-old pedestrian who was on the sidewalk and pinned him against a wall. The victim was rescued and taken for medical treatment, reporting chest pain due to the impact. The driver was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. The bus passengers were not injured. The police authority waived the right to conduct a forensic investigation, and photos of the accident were attached to the police report. After the standard procedures, the site was cleared and the bus was removed by the responsible company, as it had all the necessary documentation. |
