Bus Crashes Onto Pocitos Beach, Montevideo, Uruguay, October 26, 2024
A CUTCSA line 121 bus crashed onto Pocitos Beach in Montevideo, Uruguay, at about 7:26 a.m. on October 26, 2024, injuring 16 people. The bus traveled against traffic at speed along Avenida Brasil, crossed the Rambla del Perú and struck a wall before reaching the sand and water. The driver was thrown through the windshield and found in the water. Five or six people, including the driver, were reported seriously injured. Interior security footage shows passengers being thrown around and trying to reach the driver. A second recording shows the bus in the surf after the crash. A Navy spokesman initially suggested brake failure, but CUTCSA's president rejected that explanation. Passengers said the driver appeared conscious, and medical tests ruled out a stroke. |

You didn’t mention anything about “whale watching” in the title. These bus rides are always a bit of fun watching the outside world go by in a blur while the passengers get tossed around like laundry in a dryer.. |

Reminds me of the old kids’ song: The wheels of the bus go around and around… before becoming airborne and ending up in the sand.
