An American millionaire has blamed a low-flying pelican for crashing his million-dollar Bugatti Veyron into a lagoon.
Texan Andy House had only just taken delivery of the supercar and was on a test drive when he skidded off a road.
He told cops that he had dropped his mobile phone and after picking it up had been startled by a low-flying pelican sending him careering into the water.
The car, which is named after a Grand Prix racing driver of the mid-20th century, is claimed to be the world’s fastest production car and is one of only 15 in the US.
The engine is developed and manufactured by VW (Volkswagen).
