In many accident video that I have seen here on DR, witnesses put their hands on top of their head, like GreenShirt Guy did. When I witnessed an accident, I did the same thing, almost automatically. I wonder if that is some sort of instinctive reaction, genetically programmed into us?

No. Didn't happen to me when I witnessed a crazy accident. I gasped in shock though.
