Rare Video Footage Shows How a Hungarian Driver’s Life Was Saved

Several civilians and a police officer were the first to arrive at the scene. It was clearly evident that the car had driven into the trees at tremendous speed, and the driver was in very poor condition. Everyone helped wherever they could: someone pried at the door, another rushed to the driver, and someone else was on the line with the emergency services.

Chief Warrant Officer János Kerékgyártó immediately administered first aid to the young man, while one of the civilians held the phone for him so he could follow the dispatcher’s instructions. The scene investigator continued to stabilize the casualty’s head even as firefighters began cutting open the car door. Following several tense minutes, they successfully extracted the driver and handed him over to the paramedics, who stabilized his condition before rushing him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

During the scene investigation, several details came to light. From the condition of the car, it was instantly clear that the man had been traveling well over the speed limit. The database also revealed that he was doing all of this while actively disqualified from driving. Furthermore, a firefighter noticed that the brake had quite simply been removed from one of the car's wheels.

Any of these factors on their own would pose a massive accident risk, but to top it all off, a white powder suspected of being narcotics was also found in the car. Subsequent tests confirmed that the man was driving under the influence of an illicit substance.

The video carries an important message from both sides: these people demonstrated exemplary teamwork and selfless assistance, while at the same time, it sums up the grim consequences of someone’s poor decisions.
