Black Ice killed Metallica's Cliff Burton, among others. I've driven through a LOT of bad winter crap, having previously lived in ND and Western WA (going through mountain passes), but the ice we get here in SW MO is the scariest shit I've driven on. I don't give a crap how "awesome" you think you are; nobody drives well on ice.

I drive on gravel roads as much as possible when ice hits. Only the Interstates and/or federally-maintained roads are salted. After that, slip-slide-away until you get to those roads is the only way to civilization. (Even the fire trucks and/or ambulances can't get to us when it gets bad. )
