Re: Black Icy Road Multiple Car Crash

OMG! I used to drive a city bus for a living- we had to have a 1/4" tread depth, if I remember correctly
We have a lot of assholes around here in the summer, who are driving with 1/4mm tread depth 1 out of 10 accidents happens because of shitty tires in here

Are you in the US?
I can believe it here, even in the winter, lol. More like 'vehicular skiing', ha.

No, I'm in Tallinn, Estonia, and there's no difference here also.

Re: Black Icy Road Multiple Car Crash

"black ice" is a ridiculous phrase.....makes it sound like some mysterious extranormal phenomenon.....it isn't: just call it ice, because thats all it is

Re: Black Icy Road Multiple Car Crash

We got a transparent candy-coat of ice tonight. Thank God for gravel roads and AC/DC.

Why AC/DC? Well, I had to drive home on rock roads around 35mph, which was boring-as-fuck. So AC/DC made-better a 12-minute drive that turned into 45-minutes by just slowing down and arriving alive.

Re: Black Icy Road Multiple Car Crash

Getting all SRSLY, I drove home all the way home tonight on AWD. Not that I needed it, in fact, I find most AWD likely to "float" rather than swing, so I rarely use it in slick conditions. I prefer to correct ass-swinging skids rather that "AWD floats"... the latter represents a failure of the on-board computer as the former represents a quickly-addressable condition that can be quickly handled via the steering wheel.

Fookin'-A, speed is the #1 reason for ice-related accidents. I turned on music, locked in the AWD...

... and drove AWD @ 35mph on vacant roads, just to make sure I got home to my fookin' cats.

Re: Black Icy Road Multiple Car Crash

There were a LOT of cars in the ditch on I-49. Speed kills, but most often, it makes you look like a noob as you 'splain it to your insurance why your $50K car is in a single-car accident involving a ditch. :S

My well-maintained POS hatchback not only made it home, but also made a glorious moonshiner-safety-brake turn into the driveway. Nothin' feels like home like scaring the shit out of your family and neighbors with a bit of rally-fun.
