Black ice is super-hard to see but not hard to be aware of as a possibility on the road IF you're paying attention to conditions: doesn't everyone have the weather channel or whatever right in their pocket, on their personal idiot box/portable black mirror? Some of these drivers probably saw well ahead and tried to start braking a hundred yards early or more, no doubt wishing all the way to impact that they'd slowed the fuck down voluntarily before having to so abruptly.

I didn't think the death count ranking sounded right so I asked ChatGPT & it gave me a top 20 list. This event wasn't on that list #20 had more than twice as many deaths (13).
