Re: Black Ice
The Dance of Many Fenders. So I gotta ask: why were ANY of them going so fucking fast, under those conditions? Black ice is super-hard to see but not hard to be aware of as a possibility on the road IF you're paying attention to conditions: doesn't everyone have the weather channel or whatever right in their pocket, on their personal idiot box/portable black mirror? Some of these drivers probably saw well ahead and tried to start braking a hundred yards early or more, no doubt wishing all the way to impact that they'd slowed the fuck down voluntarily before having to so abruptly.

Re: Black Ice
no one slowed down it seems even after seeing emergency lights ahead. A devastating multi-vehicle collision occurred on February 11, 2021, along & I-35W in Fort Worth, Texas. The massive pileup involved 133 vehicles and resulted in six fatalities at the scene, with at least 65 others injured, including three in critical condition. The crash was blamed on slick, icy road conditions along a half-mile stretch of barrier-in express toll lanes just north of Downtown Fort Worth. This tragic incident ranks among the largest and deadliest in U.S. history, with the fifth-most deaths, sixth-most injuries, and seventh-most vehicles involved in a multiple-vehicle collision. This is a great quality vid Original thread.https://www.documentingreality.com/f...-worth-220503/ |

Re: Black Ice
I didn't think the death count ranking sounded right so I asked ChatGPT & it gave me a top 20 list. This event wasn't on that list #20 had more than twice as many deaths (13). https://chatgpt.com/share/69345999-c...6-873da17ce23f |

Re: Black Ice
TBH, I didn't factcheck ChatGPT's sources. It's not like AI would start hallucinating or anything crazy like that. |
