Re: Biker Run Over by the Wheels of a Bus
At least take a peak to see if a car or a BIG ASS BUS is coming before strolling into the road. Another idiot with only himself to blame. Also, it looks like the bus hit the gas big time right before it hit the guy and hauled ass over him with authority |

Re: Biker Run Over by the Wheels of a Bus
Being that we only see a portion of the bus & bike right as the bike moved into the lane of traffic, all anyone can do by this video is speculate, but let me point out another possibility. The bike seems to move into traffic just inches away from the front bumper of the bus. Now look at how high the bottom of the window is compared to the helmet of the biker. It is possible to say that with the biker moving in front of the bus the way he did that the driver of the bus could not see he was even there. I've seen several crash videos involving pedestrians and small compact cars vs. a large semi truck. I don't have the links to the videos right at this time, but I've seen a video here on DR where an old lady steps right out in front of a large truck, and at such a close range, the truck hits her and runs over her with the front tire, and couldn't bring the truck to a stop fast enough before he rolled over her with the back tires. Another video there is a tiny car driving beside the right front bumper of a truck. The car cuts the bus off, and you can clearly see in that video the the driver of the truck could not have possibly seen the car and he pushes that little car right into the back of a truck that stopped in front of them. The car came out looking like it had been crushed at a salvage yard. So neither of us can say for sure what happened. Perhaps the bus driver got distracted and not paying as close attention as he should have been, and once the front tires go over him, he has just nano-seconds to come to a total and complete stop before the back tires ran over him. It's just impossible to say with any certainty what happened by this camera shot alone. |

Re: Biker Run Over by the Wheels of a Bus
That is the exact reason why schoolbuses in the US have a long bar on the front bumper that opens out in front of the bus when the doors are open. The kids have to walk around it, a good 8 feet in front of the bus, so the driver can see the kids and not run them over! |
