Biker Hits Police Car and Died
The 37 year old corporal-ranked police member involved in this fatal accident was detained to assist with the investigation. The motorcyclist was confirmed dead at the Hospital later that day.

The lights flashing before turning into the path of the motorcyclist should absolve the polis man of any liability since civilian vehicles must yield to emergency vehicles with lights/siren/both activated - although this is a pretty close call either way. Additionally, it is a "developing nation" and the laws may be evolving and changing as we speak.

I own this news in another Malaysian forum here, here's the news; Teenager Dies Motorcycle Hits Police Vehicle 11.04.2024 - Mohammad Khairul Basahri, 18, died of internal injuries, in addition to a broken leg and thigh. A motorcyclist died while receiving treatment at the Melaka Hospital after allegedly crashing into a police vehicle that was carrying out an Op Cegah Lumba Haram patrol at Jalan Gangsa-Kesang, Durian Tunggal, here, on 1 Syawal. Melaka Police Chief Zainol Samah said Mohammad Khairul Basahri, 18, who was riding a Yamaha 135 LC died of internal injuries, in addition to a broken leg and thigh in the incident at 2.56am on Wednesday. "The Melaka police detected a 40-second video that went viral on social media showing the accident involving a police four-wheel drive with a motorcycle ridden by the victim," he said in a statement today. "Before the incident, a police vehicle was driven by a 37-year-old member of the Durian Tunggal Police Station to the involved location following public complaints related to noise and illegal racing activities in the area, before turning on the direction lights and sirens to warn the motorcycle group involved." He said, aware of the presence of the police in the area, the motorcyclists who were gathering on the side of the road ran away. When the police vehicle was turning to the right of the road, he said, the victim riding a motorcycle from the opposite direction crashed into the four-wheel drive involved. According to him, the injured victim was taken to Melaka Hospital before dying while receiving treatment at the hospital's intensive care unit at 12.37 midnight last night. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving causing death. He said that the Melaka police ensure that the investigation of the case is carried out in a transparent and professional manner and that the public with information is requested to contact the Head of Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division of IPD Alor Gajah at 06-5563222 to assist with further investigation. Update 1 Melaka Police Guarantees There Are No One-Sided Elements 11.04.2024 - A transparent and fair investigation will be carried out regarding the case of a fatal accident involving a teenager with a police vehicle in Jalan Gangsa Kesang, Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, early yesterday morning. The guarantee was given by the Alor Gajah District Police Chief, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah while insisting that there is no element of favoritism in ensuring that the interests of all parties involved are protected. "The PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) will conduct a transparent and fair investigation in determining the true cause of the accident. We will also not compromise with any officer and member if the results of the investigation prove the existence of an element of negligence on our part in carrying out our duties. Strict action will be taken and there is no element of bias in the investigation of this case," he said when contacted here. The media today reported that a furniture factory worker, Mohammad Khairul Basahri, 18, died while being treated at the Melaka Hospital Intensive Care Unit due to serious injuries to his legs and body in an accident with a police vehicle in Jalan Gangsa Kesang, Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, about an hour 2.56 am yesterday. Update 2 Police Corporal Detained 12.04.2024 - A police officer with the rank of corporal was arrested to assist in the investigation of a fatal accident involving a motorcycle rider and a police vehicle, yesterday. Melaka Police Chief Datuk Zainol Samah said the members involved were detained at the Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 9am this morning. According to him, currently the recording of the conversation is still being conducted against the 37-year-old member. "Urine screening tests were also carried out and the member was free of any drug abuse," he said in a statement today. Zainol said, so far his party has received six reports related to the incident and three recordings of conversations including the victim's family members have been completed. According to him, the case was reclassified in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 after the victim died at Melaka Hospital at 12.37 midnight yesterday. He also reiterated the assurance that the investigation will be conducted in a transparent and professional manner. "People who saw the incident are asked to contact IPD Alor Gajah at 06-5563222 to help with the investigation," he said.
