Re: Biker Does the Front Brake Trick
Sorry, no. Maybe on a fat, slow, poor handling Harley style bike, because it's soooo heavy (700-1000lbs, 300-450kgs). But on a 420lb(190kg) sport bike the front brake is 95% of your stopping power. The bike I have is 10 years old and still has the original brake pads on the rear wheel. Done at the limit, the rear wheel is hovering off the ground when you are hard on the brakes in a controlled manner. He did the right thing by applying the front brake, he just did it in a full panic and not in a smooth but very firm way. This is the kind of thing that happens in car AND on bikes when people don't have much experience knowing the limits of their vehicle. He wasn't paying attention as he should have or he would have noticed the car stopped in his lane sooner and had plenty of time to stop. |
