Police and emergency crews responded to a collision between a train and a tractor-trailer in St. Stephen Monday evening, Dec 9. The crash took place at the intersection of Elm St. and Bryne Dr. just off of US 52 around 5:23 PM, according to Berkeley County officals. Officials say the tractor-trailer got stuck on the tracks, and the train was unable to stop before colliding with it. The train's engineer and conductor, along the truck's driver were all involved in the crash. Two victims were transported to the hospital as a precaution with very minor injuries, officials said. St. Stephen Police Department, St. Stephen Fire Department, Berkeley County EMS, and Berkeley County Emergency Management all responded to the scene. Berkeley County Emergency Management said 40-gallons of diesel spilled, but has since been contained. |
