That reminds me of winter driving in west-central North Dakota back in the '80s. Cold-as-fuck and the roads were often slick-as-hell because salt doesn't work below 20° F. Sand and coal-fired-power-plant cinders were all you could put down to help traction. But it was beautiful and simple back then, before the Bakken Oil Rush fucked that state up. ![]() |

It's called black ice and it's no different than hydroplaning when you hit it! The only way out of this jack knife situation is to quickly grab a higher gear then the one your in and tromp the accelerator to the floor and steer into it. It's happened to me 4 times and when it happens your brain screams brake hard but you have less than a second to gear up and go as after 25 degrees of jack knife it's almost impossible to straighten her out again as the fella in this video has learned the hard way! ![]() |
