Bank Official Accidentally Hits the Gas Pedal Killing 2 and Injuring 3 People
Police on Tuesday arrested a senior bank official after a freak accident in an apartment complex in Thiruvanmiyur, India left two people dead and three others injured. A police officer said a 35 year-old, chief manager of a branch of a private bank in Thiruvanmiyur, got in his car around 6.30pm on Tuesday and was driving out of the apartment complex when the accident took place. It appears that he stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake while going over a speed-breaker. He panicked and lost control of the car. The hatchback ploughed at high speed into a group of people standing near the entrance of the apartment. Residents rushed a 62 year-old, secretary of Sai Subhodaya Apartment's Residents' Association, and a 44 year-old, security officer of the apartment complex, who were severely injured, to a private hospital in Adyar. Doctors there said the two men died early on Wednesday. A 55 year-old security guard, another 45 year-old man, and another man, 62, residents of the apartment complex got injured and were transported to the Hospital where they are receiving treatment. |
