Two people were killed and six were injured when a rally car lost control on a bend and struck roadside spectators in the Aguaján sector of Ambato, Ecuador, on July 30, 2025, police said. The crash occurred during the third stage of the 46th Vuelta Automovilística al Ecuador, also known as the Vuelta a la República.

The dead were identified as Daniela Merino, 21, and Santiago Ortiz, 52. Ortiz had come to watch the race with his son. The competing car slid wide through the bend before entering the crowd and also struck a parked vehicle. Ecuador's national motorsport federation, FEDAK, canceled the remainder of the race after the crash.
