ADHD Teenage Boy Plays Frogger and Gets Hit by a Car
A vehicle struck a 15-year-old boy with ADHD who was playing in the street. The incident, which took place along the Nonpariel main road in Negril, Westmoreland, has left the teen hospitalised in critical condition. A report says the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Monday. Sheldon was observed running and playing across the busy roadway multiple times. A bystander filmed his activity, showing when he attempted to cross once more, and when he was hit by a passing vehicle. The collision sent him several feet away from the point of impact. Witnesses screamed in response to the terrifying moment. Although the official report has not yet disclosed his name, media online shared that the boy is identified as Sheldon Graham. The report said that the teen is a student of the Llandilo School of Special Education. He was transported to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, according to the report. Roy Reid, principal of the Llandilo School of Special Education, told The Gleaner that Graham, whose mother was too distraught to speak, has been among the more challenging students at the institution. “Sheldon, he was 15 years old and he had severe ADHD and some communication issues, too,” Reid explained. “He was definitely not an easy student to deal with.” |

Re: ADHD Teenage Boy Plays Frogger and Gets Hit by a Car
You know, when i was in Elementary School, there was a kid who displayed symptoms of ADHD. Always acting up in class, making sounds, being an all-around asshole. One day during recess some kids kicked the fuck out of this kid and made him kiss a tree, and after that he became "normal". |

It should be noted that Principal Roy Reid, was apparently the driver as well. Teachers who knew him said that he made 3 previous attempts, but, by golly, THIS time, he got the kid! |

Re: ADHD Teenage Boy Plays Frogger and Gets Hit by a Car
ADHD is a medical condition that, basically, involves impairment of the executive functions of the brain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_functions The most frequently cited aspect of ADHD is an inability regulate attention, which is not the same as an inability to pay attention (a la "a squirrel!"). ADHD can result in too much attention being paid to something (if the patient finds it rewarding) just as easily as too little. As the name suggests, hyperactivity can also be a feature. In fact, ADHD patients are categorized as "primarily inattentave" or "primarily hyperactive" depending on which facet is dominant in their situation. In this video I see multiple ADHD traits:
Someone like that needs to be supervised, just as a much younger child needs to be. And while you might think that his brief parabolic trajectory might learn him a lesson, it probably won't. Despite what rohmell said, you can't beat someone into recovery from a medical condition. |
